چکیده

Recent availability of electronically accessible databases of journal articles makes studies of the diffusion of papers through citations possible. Citation peaks have been found to be typically five to seven years, with a long tailing off. A seminal paper on theoretical and applied efficiency analysis followed quite another diffusion pattern. We identify four papers in the three decades following, based on aspects and ideas of the former. The conventional wisdom that the seminal paper lay dormant for two decades, and that efficiency studies only got rolling after the most cited of the four papers appeared, is shown to be wrong.

Two-stage network DEA-R based on value efficiency

It is essential for most organizations and financial institutes to be able to evaluate their decision-making units (DMUs), when there is only a ratio of inputs to outputs (or vice versa) available. In this paper, we will propose our two-stage DEA-R models, which are a combination of data envelopment analysis and ratio data, based on value efficiency. Integrating value efficiency into data envel...

Estimating most productive scale size in DEA with real and integer value data

For better guiding a system, senior managers should have accurate information. Using Data Envelopment analysis (DEA) help managers in this objective. Thus, many investigations have been made in order to find the most productive scale size (MPSS) for the evaluating decision making units (DMUs). In this paper we consider this case where there exist subsets of input and output variables to be inte...

Scaling production and improving efficiency in DEA: an interactive approach

DEA models help a DMU to detect its (in-)efficiency and to improve activities, if necessary. Efficiency is only one economic aim for a decision-maker; however, up- or downsizing might be a second one. Improving efficiency is the main topic in DEA; the long-term strategy towards the right production size should attract our attention as well. Not always the management of a DMU primarily focuses o...

Total and Partial efficiency indexes in data envelopment analysis

Introduction: Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a data-oriented method for measuring and benchmarking the relative efficiency of peer decision making units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. DEA was initiated in 1978 when Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (CCR) demonstrated how to change a fractional linear measure of efficiency into a linear programming format. This non-parametric app...

Measuring Technical Efficiency of the Iranian Post Company Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

Given that improvement in efficiency is a major resource to economic development, this can be applied to each domestic sector of an economy. The objective of this paper is to measure technical efficiency of the Iranian Post Company across the country’s provinces using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The ranking of technical efficiency has been calculated by using collected data on post offi...
